This name originates from New Zealand. It is part of the New Zealand Gazetteer and the SCAR Composite Gazetteer of Antarctica.
Names that other countries have for this feature:
A prominent nunatak rising to over 2300m, immediately southwest of Turnstile Ridge in the northwest part of Britannia Range. It is the westernmost rock outcrop in this part of the range.
The name was suggested by Squadron-Leader John Richard Claydon, Royal New Zealand Air Force (RNZAF), who first saw the feature from the air. With 40 days worth of rations for men and dogs deposited on the feature earlier, The Darwin Glacier Party of the Commonwealth Trans-Antarctic Expedition (CTAE) reached it on 10 December 1957, and set up a survey station on its summit the following day.
