Feature type: Mesa
This name originates from New Zealand. It is part of the New Zealand Gazetteer and the SCAR Composite Gazetteer of Antarctica.
Names that other countries have for this feature:
A small ice-free mesa between Outpost Nunataks and Ricker Hills, in the Prince Albert Mountains, Victoria Land.
Mapped by the Southern Party of New Zealand Geological Survey Antarctic Expedition (NZGSAE), 1962-63, who named it because of the colouring which suggested hellfire and brimstone. The name was applied to the entire feature at the time, not just the eastern peak.
