Feature type: Glacier
This name originates from New Zealand. It is part of the New Zealand Gazetteer and the SCAR Composite Gazetteer of Antarctica.
Names that other countries have for this feature:
A glacier flanked by Serba Peak and Feeney Ridge, separated from Tomilin Glacier by a low saddle, and flowing northeast into Noll Glacier.
Named after Governor-General Sir Bernard Fergusson, who made a flight over the northern party of New Zealand Geological Survey Antarctic Expedition (NZGSAE), 1963-64, during his visit to Antarctica. The feature has a much reduced extent compared to that originally intended. The feature was thought to flow from Governor Mountain (there is a low saddle between the feature and Tomilin Glacier), and to flow to the coast (Noll Glacier overnamed the northern extent). Identical coordinates to Manna Glacier were also supplied at the time. Refer to the NZARP 1963-64 Expedition map of Oates Land-Northern Victoria Land (1964) for an original depiction.
