This name originates from New Zealand. It is part of the New Zealand Gazetteer and the SCAR Composite Gazetteer of Antarctica.
Names that other countries have for this feature:
A mountain, c.3010m, standing 5.7km south-southeast of Mount Egerton in the Churchill Mountains.
Discovered and named by the British National Antarctic Expedition (BrNAE), 1901-04, under Scott. Based on the consistent Admiralty naming theme in the vicinity by Scott, the feature appears to be named for Admiral Sir Arthur Mostyn Field (promoted to Admiral in 1905). Following the expedition, in 1908 Field sat on the Antarctic Meteorological Observations Committee and Magnetic Observations Committee to review findings.
