Narrative

An island 3km NE of Sted Island, located in southern Prydz Bay.

Named For

The title of the first Antarctic poem recorded. Written by James Croxall Palmer, surgeon on the United States Exploring Expedition (1838–1841) which explored Wilkes Land, the epic poem was set to music by the geologist on the expedition, James Dwight Dana.
