Bay on the west side of Coronation Island, west of Pomona Plateau.
Named for SS Lancing, a whaling factory ship operated by Norwegian whaling firm Hvalfanger A/S Globus, which worked in waters off South Orkney Islands 1925-27. The Lancing is notable as the first whaling factory ship to be fitted with a stern slipway and pioneered the practice of pelagic whaling without the need for shore stations.
