Narrative

Small island about 60 m long, lying 200 m north-east of Kirsty Island, Ryder Bay, Adelaide Island. The island contains about 2% of the global population of imperial cormorants/blue-eyed shags (Phalacrocorax atriceps). Muckle scarf is the Shetland Islands term for the cormorant, and comes from Old Norse.
