Named by Advisory Committee on Antarctic Names (US-ACAN) in 1996 after Wendy Julia Lawson, glaciologist, University of Canterbury, New Zealand, leader of an expedition that studied glacial processes on Taylor Glacier during the 1992 and 1993 summer seasons.
