A teardrop shaped cluster of ice-free hills, approximately 11.2km east to west in extent and rising to 1586m in the centre, at the north side of the bend in Taylor Glacier in Victoria Land. Feature shown on: NZ AntTopo50-MF08

Named For

Named after geographer and archivist Herman R. Friis (1906-89), Director of the Center for Polar Archives in the National Archives. U.S. exchange scientist at the Japanese station East Ongul Island, 1969-70. Member of United States Advisory Committee on Antarctic Names (US-ACAN), 1957-73.
