Mountains bounded by the Mulock Glacier in the north and the Darwin Glacier in the south, at Hillary Coast.
These mountains were explored by the NZ Geological Expedition (1964-65). Named after Captain James Cook, RN, leader of a British expedition (1772-75), which circumnavigated the world in a high southern latitude, crossed the Antarctic Circle for the first time and dispelled the idea of a southern continent extending to temperate latitudes.
