This name originates from Australia. It is part of the Australian Antarctic Gazetteer and the SCAR Composite Gazetteer of Antarctica.
A small ice-free island some 5km north of the entrance to Amanda Bay.
The name is based on a character from the writings of Australian author May Gibbs (1877–1969), whose books encouraged children to treat nature’s treasures with respect.
