This name originates from Australia. It is part of the Australian Antarctic Gazetteer.

Narrative

Applied by the AAE 1911-14 surveyor Blake to the rocky point on the west coast of Macquarie Island which forms the southern headland of the feature named Eagle Bay on the 1891 map by Fairchild, 1899 map by Macdonald and the editions of the Admiralty chart based on them.

Named For

The name commemorates the vessel Eagle , wrecked at the point in about 1870.
