A rocky point on Clark Peninsula, Budd Coast, on which Wilkes station is built. The region was photographed by USN Operation Highjump (1946-47), ANARE (1956) and the Russian Antarctic Expedition (1956). Wilkes station was established by a US Antarctic Expedition in February 1957. Named by USACAN after G.H. Stonehocker, chief physicist in the ionosphere-cosmic ray programme at Wilkes in 1957.
