This name originates from Australia. It is part of the Australian Antarctic Gazetteer and the SCAR Composite Gazetteer of Antarctica.
An Emperor penguin colony on sea-ice, sheltered by grounded icebergs about 51 km ENE of Mawson. Discovered in August, 1957, by Flying Officer, D. Johnston RAAF from an ANARE Auster aircraft, after which it was named.
