This name originates from Australia. It is part of the Australian Antarctic Gazetteer.
Named for CT Harrisson, biologist with the 1911-13 Australasian Antarctic Expedition, who spent a year in Queen Mary Land as a member of the Western base party. In November 1914 he visited Macquarie Island as biologist on the Commonwealth Fisheries Investigation vessel Endeavour and was lost with her when she disappeared without trace after leaving the Island.
