Feature type: Dome
This name originates from Australia. It is part of the Australian Antarctic Gazetteer and the SCAR Composite Gazetteer of Antarctica.
Names that other countries have for this feature:
A large, heavily crevassed ice dome about 57 km south of Mount Twintop in Mac.Robertson Land. This feature had been seen by ANARE parties travelling south after 1957 but prior to 1967 the feature had been avoided. In 1967, John Manning, surveyor at Mawson, selected a route through the crevasses and established a beaconed tellurometer station on it. The name indicates the risk taken in crossing the dome.
