Narrative

During 1972 and 1974, Ray Brookes - the first carpenter to winter at Davis - built what is now known as Brookes Hut at Long Fjord, 15 kilometres to the west of Davis. He had to improvise with panels fabricated from scrap timber scrounged from around the station. Extract from The Silence Calling, page 343.
