The entrance to the Rybij Khvost Gulf lies 6.5 kms south-west from the western edge of Fuller Island and is surrounded by the main bulk of the Bunger Hills. Krylatyy Peninsula forms the northern shore on the western side. It occupies an area approximately 5.5 kms by 2.5 kms. The gulf has a small group of islands at its south-western end which is about 5.0 kms east of Edgeworth David. A steep pointed cape marks the north-eastern entrance to the gulf while the Krylatyy Peninsula forms the north-western perimeter. Mapped by the Soviet Antarctic Expedition in 1956.
