Narrative

An ice shelf on the coast of Oates Land between Cape Davydov and Cape Andreyev. Photographed by the Soviet Antarctic Expedition in 1956. The Soviet Expedition applied the name Slava Bay to a wide open bay between Cape Novosilskiiy on the shelf and Cape Buromskiy. It was decided that the name would be appropriately applied to the ice shelf. Named after the Soviet whaling flotilla Slava.
