A bay on the west coast of Macquarie Island.
Nomenclature Board of Tasmania Regn 7303J / Decn 4935 "In charge of operations for Hatch, was a sealer named Otto Bauer. During the time they were associated, Bauer spent many summers on windswept Macquarie Island. His name has been given to a bay on the islands north-west coast" {Saturday Evening Mercury, 26/9/1970, page 30}. "Full scale operations for extracting oil were resumed on Macquarie Island in 1915. The Rachel Cohen was again used to transport the gangs to the island and return with the oil to Hobart. Otto Bauer was again Hatch's headman on the island. He died there of heart failure on May 1, 1918" {Saturday Evening Mercury, 3/10/1970, page 41}.
