Narrative

El nombre original, puesto por la Expedición Antártica Chilena de 1947, fue isla Cap. Aguirre y corresponde al apellido del capitán Eneas Aguirre Sersic, Ejército de Chile, integrante de la expedición. En 1951 se cambia a isla Aguirre, para evitar el nombre compuesto, y posteriormente, por su magnitud, a islote Aguirre. Islote situado inmediata y directamente al W del islote Gándara, en rada Covadonga, frente a la costa occidental de Tierra de O'Higgins.
