Narrative

La Expedición Antártica Chilena de 1950- 1951 efectuó un completo levantamiento de esta zona y le asignó el nombre a esta punta, el que corresponde al apellido del teniente 1º Roberto Araos Tapia, Fuerza Aérea de Chile, primer comandante de la Base Antártica Chilena González Videla, establecida en la península Munita en 1951. Punta que constituye el extremo N de la península Munita, situada a 1,5 milla al SW del cabo Lacaze Duthiers, en la costa oriental del canal Aguirre Cerda, el que da acceso por el N a la bahía Paraíso, costa occidental de la península Tierra de O'Higgins.
