Narrative

Las islas de esta zona fueron avistadas por primera vez por una partida al mando de J. Gunnar Andersson de la Expedición Sueca de 1901-1903, al mando del Dr. Otto Nordenskjöld. La isla Cola fue cartografiada en 1945, por una expedición británica, quien le dio el nombre isla Tail, por su posición relativa entre la isla Pico, isla Águila e isla Huevo. El nombre original fue traducido como isla Cola en 1961 por el Instituto Hidrográfico de la Armada de Chile, para aprovechar su condición de nombre descriptivo. Isla de forma circular de aproximadamente 1 milla de diámetro y que alcanza 152 metros de altura, que está situada entre las islas Huevo y Águila en la parte NE del canal Príncipe Gustavo, frente a la costa oriental de la península Luis Felipe.
