Probablemente fue vista por primera vez por la Expedición Antártica Francesa, 1908- 1911, al mando del Dr. Jean B. Charcot. Cartografiado por la Expedición Antártica Británica, de 1934-1937, al mando de John Rymill. Isla de forma de cuarto de luna de 3 millas de largo por 1,5 de ancho, situada en el canal Grandidier a 2 millas al W de isla Jagged y a 10,5 millas del cabo Ferin, retirada de la costa W de la Tierra de O'Higgins. Sus costas están formadas por acantilados de hielo.
