Fue cartografiado por la PF. "Iquique", buque integrante de la Expedición Antártica Chilena de 1947, bajo la dirección del comandante y capitán de fragata Ernesto González Navarrete, quienes le dieron el nombre por un hijo del comandante. Islote situado a 12 cables al E de islote Buff, cerca de la boca occidental del estrecho Bismark, al S de isla Anvers del archipiélago de Palmer.
