Fue descubierto y denominado en 1927 por la Expedición Noruega al mando de Edvynd Tofte en el "Odd I", un barco de la flota ballenera de Lars Christensen. El nombre es el de la esposa de Lars Christensen, Mrs. Ingrid Christensen. Promontorio oscuro, elevado y rocoso que separa las bahías Sandefjord y Noruega en la costa W de isla Pedro I.
