Esta bahía fue conocida por los cazadores de focas de esta zona a comienzos del año 1822. Cartografiada por el personal de la Discovery II en 1935 y probablemente le dieron este nombre por la cercanía a isla Media Luna. Mide 6,7 millas de ancho por 3,5 de saco, se abre entre las puntas Alta y Pin, al E de la isla Livingston, en las islas Shetland del Sur. Sus costas están formadas por glaciares y acantilados de hielo que caen a pique hacia el mar, de los que continuamente se desprenden témpanos y escombros.
