En 1829, la Expedición Británica de Foster realizó observaciones magnéticas y pendulares en esta caleta, de donde deriva su nombre. Caleta situada en la costa NE de puerto Foster, entre las puntas Barros y Andressen de la isla Decepción, de las islas Shetland del Sur. La conformación del terreno, es de ceniza volcánica, presenta en algunos sectores elevadas temperaturas; queda libre de hielos en verano.
