Narrative

La Expedición Sueca de 1901-1904 al mando de Otto Nordenskjöld dio parte de una muralla de hielo o de un terraplén glacial en las vecindades del nunatak Borchgrevink. Aunque incapaz de determinar su naturaleza, Nordenskjöld denominó al accidente geográfico por glaciar Philippi por Emil Philippi. El FIDS durante su levantamiento de 1947 de esta costa determinó que era un promontorio cubierto de nieve. Promontorio bajo y cubierto de nieve de 7 millas de ancho y que se extiende por 10 millas al E desde la costa E de la península Tierra de O'Higgins. La superficie de hielo es más alta en el W donde sus alturas alcanzan a 396 metros y están interrumpidas por los nunataks Borchgrevink y Gemini.
