El 20 de diciembre de 1928, Sir Hubert Wilkins, vio desde el aire una isla a la que le dio este nombre por W. S. Robinson. Falta de antecedentes no ha permitido reidentificarla, aplicándose el mismo nombre a cabo Robinson, por continuidad histórica. Es el extremo oriental de una península que se proyecta desde la costa E de la península Tierra de O'Higgins por 15 millas al WSW de cabo Alexander. Está constituido por un promontorio de forma redondeada, cubierto completamente de nieve.
