Fue descubierta por la Expedición Sueca de 1901-1904, al mando del Dr. Otto Nordenskjöld y cartografiado en 1946 por FIDS, que le puso este nombre por la Operación Tabarín del año 1943 a 1945. Mide 13 millas de largo por 9 de ancho, situada entre las bahías Hope y Duse y forma la porción S de la extremidad NE de la península Luis Felipe. La costa S de la península consiste en acantilados de hielo a través de los cuales afloran salientes de piedra desnuda. Su máxima altura es de 744 metros.
