Estas islas fueron descubiertas en febrero de 1832 por una Expedición Británica al mando de John Biscoe y efectuaron su levantamiento por primera vez las expediciones Francesas de 1903-1905 y de 1908-1910, ambas al mando del Dr. Jean B. Charcot. La isla Renaud fue nuevamente levantada en 1935-1936 por la Expedición Británica al mando de John Rymill. Este cabo en 1954 fue denominada por el Comité Británico para poner Nombres Antárticos, por el "Tula", uno de los barcos de la expedición de 1830-1832 al mando de Biscoe. Constituye la extremidad NE de la isla Renaud en las islas Biscoe.
