This name originates from China. It is part of the China Gazetteer and the SCAR Composite Gazetteer of Antarctica.
Located on the expedition route from Zhongshan Station to Dome A, it is an ice cap area at 78°S-79°S, and elevation of the surface is about 3,500m. It is 980km from Zhongshan Station. Quite near the peak of the south pole ice cap, there's very little space and the expedition team were having a hard time moving on. Seeing from the satellite map, large amount of ice ridge runs from east to west, which is quite magnificent. It was named when satellite images surveying and mapping in 2000.
