The glacier, passing Bertrabnunatakker in the W and Littlewood Nunataks in the E, is confluencing with Penckgletscher and Schweitzergletscher, all draining the inland ice sheet of Touchdown Hills into Herzog-Ernst-Bucht, Prinzregent-Luitpold-Land, Coats Land; initianally named 'Graf-Lerchenfeld-Gletscher'. Discovered during Deutsche Antarktische Expedition 1911/12 under Wilhelm Filchner.
Hugo Graf von Lerchenfeld-Köfering (1843-1925), promoter of the expedition.
