Obersee (Norwegian name Øvresjøen), confined by the mountains Seekopf and Sjøneset, located at the NE extremity of Otto-von-Gruber-Gebirge, is a permanently frozen melt-water lake located at a higher level than the lake Untersee, Wohlthatmassiv, Fimbulheimen, Neuschwabenland, Dronning Maud Land. Discovered during German Antarctic Expedition 1938/39 ('Neuschwabenland-Expedition') under Alfred Ritscher.
