This name originates from Germany. It is part of the Germany Gazetteer and the SCAR Composite Gazetteer of Antarctica.

Narrative

The glacier flows from ist head (-71,2°lat, +11°long) between the N extremity of Wohlthatmassiv and the nunataks of Lingetoppane in NE direction, turning to S-N direction, passing Schirmacheroase, and flowing into Nivlisen, Prinsesse Astrid Kyst, Neuschwabenland, Dronning Maud Land. Named during a field campaign 1997/98 for ERS1/2 Satellite Interferometry when intensive measurements were carried out on the glacier resulting in a consolidated outline of the glacier's catchment area.

Named For

Potsdam, Capital of the Land Brandenburg, Germany; for more than a century Potsdam was and is a centre of geo-scientific research.
