Named For

Franz Thyssen (1932-2009), German geophysisist, initiator of airborne geophysical ice thickness measurement programmes during German Antarctic expeditions. Named in recognition of his indicatory aerophysical measurements over Berkner Island and further large areas in Antarctica.
