Narrative

Station annexe de la base, située sur le plateau glaciaire continental antarctique, au sud de la base Dumont-d'Urville et à 317 km de la côte de la terre Adélie. Implantée dans le névé de surface le 25 décembre 1956 en l'honneur du commandant J.-B. Charcot ( 1867-1936), navigateur et explorateur français des régions polaires, qui hiverna dans l'Antarctique en 1904-1905 et en 1908-1909. Toponyme non retenu sur une carte marine classique, mais pouvant présenter un intérêt scientifique ou patrimonial.
