rising to c. 2250m in Douglas Range, Alexander Island, was roughly surveyed from the E by BGLE in October 1936 (Stephenson, 1940, map facing p.232); resurveyed from the E by FIDS from Stonington Island in 1948-49; named after Alfred (847-899), King of England (871-899), in association with the names of other Saxon Kings of England in this area (APC, 1955, p.3; BA chart 3175, 5.vii.1957; DOS 610 sheet 70 68, 1960).
