Narrative

cirque at head of Northeast Glacier, Fallières Coast, following survey by FIDS in 1946 was named from its shape (APC, 1955, p.4; DCS 601 sheet 6866, 1955). Refugio Chacabuco , Argentine refuge established 21 November 1956 on S side of this feature and so called after the battle against the Spaniards in 1817 (Pierrou, 1970, p.281).
