Narrative

rising to c. 1450m on SW side of Wright Ice Piedmont, Danco Coast, was photographed from the air by FIDASE in 1956-57; in association with the names of aviation pioneers grouped in this area, named after Paul Cornu (b.1881), French engineer who, in a machine of his own construction, was the first man to leave the ground in a helicopter (although not vertically), 13 November 1907 (APC, 1960, p.3; BA chart 3205, 23.xi.1962; BAS 250 sheet SQ 19-20/4, 1-DOS 1974).
