This name originates from Australia. It is part of the Australian Antarctic Gazetteer and the SCAR Composite Gazetteer of Antarctica.

An island 0.5 km across, 1 km north-west of Anchorage Island and 3.3 km north-west of Davis in the Vestfold Hills. Named by Phillip Law in 1957.
The southern end of the island is marked by a very steep cliff face, hence the name.
