Narrative

A high ice-covered island on the western side of the Amery Ice Shelf. Plotted as a peninsula from ANARE air photographs. An astrofix was obtained at Trost Rocks, a rock outcrop on the north-eastern side of the island by D.R. Carstens, surveyor at Mawson in 1962. The feature was found to be an island by a party from the ANARE Prince Charles Mountains survey party in 1971. Named after M. Single, senior diesel mechanic at Mawson in 1962, a member of the field party which first visited the area.
