Narrative

flowing E into Prince Gustav Channel, Trinity Peninsula, and forming with Russell West Glacier (q.v.) a through glacier to the NW coast of the peninsula, was surveyed by FIDS from "Hope Bay" in 1946 and named East Russell Glacier after Capt. Victor Ian Russell, RE (1918-2001), Operation "Tabarin" and FIDS surveyor, "Hope Bay", 1944-46 (Base Leader, 1945-46) (APC, 1955, p.9; BA, 1961, p.132). Russell Glacier, referring to both this feature and Russell West Glacier (Anderson, 1957, end map). Glaciar Russell Este (Argentina. MM, 1958b, p.170; Pierrou, 1970, p.641). Russell East Glacier (APC, 1960, p.7; BA chart 3205, 23.xi.1962; BAS 250 sheet SP 21-22/13, 1-DOS 1974). Glaciar Russell, referring to this feature and Russell West Glacier (Chile. DNH, 1962, p.219). Glaciar Russel [sic] del Este (Chile. IHA, 1974, p.251).
