rising to 645m in W Vega Island, Prince Gustav Channel, was roughly mapped by SwAE in 1902-03; surveyed by FIDS from "Hope Bay" in November 1945 and so named because a snow-covered ledge breaks the cliff on the W side, giving the appearance of a sandwich when viewed from the N (APC, 1955, p.18; BAS 250 sheet SP 21-22/13, 1-DOS 1974).
