S-most of the Pitt Islands (q.v.), Biscoe Islands, was roughly charted by AAE, 1954-55; photographed from the air by FIDASE in 1956; in association with the names of characters from Pickwick papers in this area, named after Nathaniel Winkle, a member of the Pickwick Club (APC, 1959a, p.12; BA chart 3573, 26.viii.1960).
