Narrative

An island lying in the northeastern part of Lützow-Holmbukta. This island was originally mapped as the northeastern part of Ongul by Norwegian cartographers who worked from air photos taken by the Lars Christensen Expedition, 1936-37. A strait (see Naka-no-seto) separating Ongul into two islands was discovered in 1957 by JARE. They named Higasi-Ongul Tô (east Ongul island).
