This name originates from New Zealand. It is part of the New Zealand Gazetteer and the SCAR Composite Gazetteer of Antarctica.
A point between Backdoor Bay and Arrival Bay on Ross Island. Named by the BAE, 1907-09, because in 1908 they used a derrick at this point to get their supplies up to their winter quarters at nearby Cape Royds.
