Narrative

An embayment about 11 miles wide and of similar length, marking the seaward end of a deep valley between Cape Archerand Cape Roberts, along Victoria Land. The harbour is backed by high mountains. Discovered by the NAE, 1901-04, in the Discovery in January 1902, while searching for safe winter quarters for the ship. Named because of the great granite boulders found on the shores.
