This name originates from New Zealand. It is part of the New Zealand Gazetteer and the SCAR Composite Gazetteer of Antarctica.
A beach on Franklin Island named, because of the Adelie penguin rookery there, by the NAE, 1901-04. A party landed from the expedition ships on 4 January 1904 to collect eggs and geological specimans.
